The last time Highland Park ISD built an elementary school was nearly 70 years ago. Times have changed, and the population has grown. The community not only needed a newer school, but a larger one. Recognizing this need, the community passed a $361.4 million bond in 2015 with $29.4 million allocated to a new elementary school, School #5.
The new school sits on 4.6 acres with a quarter of the land being used as green space, including a playground, soccer field, outdoor classroom with a garden and an outdoor amphitheater. Other facilities include a gymnasium, an underground parking garage and a new lane entering from the north side of the school.
